CCTV Maintenance Checklist

MSE Alarms Routine Maintenance Inspections are carried out to a high standard not down to a price as per the following CCTV Maintenance Checklist reflects.

 

 1. Clean All Cameras:
  • Carefully clean the cameras to ensure clear image quality.
  • Check for and remove any obstructions like spider webs, dust, or debris.
2.  Check Camera Mounting:
  • Ensure all cameras are securely mounted and positioned correctly.
  • Adjust camera angles to ensure coverage remains optimal (if requested by client).
3.  Inspect and Test Power Supply:
  • Check power supplies, such as transformers or POE injectors, and replace faulty equipment as needed.
4.  Test Camera Video Quality:
  • Confirm each camera is recording high-quality footage.
  • Adjust focus, zoom, or lens settings if necessary.
5.  Inspect and Test Camera Cabling:
  • Check for any wear, fraying, or damage to cables.
  • Ensure proper cable connections and replace damaged cables as needed.
6.  Verify Network/Recorder Connectivity:
  • Confirm that each camera is properly connected to the network or DVR/NVR.
  • Test for proper communication between cameras and the recording device.
7.  Check Recording Functionality:
  • Ensure the system is consistently recording footage as programmed.
  • Verify playback functionality and ensure recent recordings are available.
8.  Inspect Storage Capacity:
  • Check available storage on the DVR/NVR and adjust retention settings if needed.
9.  Update Firmware and Software:
  • Ensure that all cameras and recording devices are running the latest firmware/software versions.
  • Update as required to improve performance and security.
10.  Test Remote Access:
  • Verify that the client’s remote access (e.g., via app or browser) is functioning correctly.
  • Test video streaming, playback, and any alarm notifications.
11.  Check Infrared (IR) Functionality:
  • Confirm IR function using playback feature from previous night.
12.  Test Motion Detection Settings:
  • Verify that motion detection is working accurately on applicable cameras.
  • Adjust sensitivity settings as needed to minimize false alarms.
13.  Inspect Environmental Conditions:
  • Check for any environmental factors (e.g., water, dust, extreme temperatures) affecting camera performance.
  • Implement protective measures if necessary.
14.  Check Video Playback on Monitors:
  • Verify that video feeds display correctly on all monitoring devices.
  • Check for any lag or distortion in video playback.
15.  Check and Update Time and Date Settings:
  • Ensure that the system’s time and date settings are accurate.
  • Adjust settings if necessary to maintain accurate timestamps.
16.  Perform a Full System Reboot:
  • Reboot the DVR/NVR and cameras to ensure stable operation.
  • Confirm all components return to normal functionality after the reboot.
17.  Explain Any Issues:
  • Discuss findings or recommended actions with the customer.
  • Suggest system upgrades or improvements if necessary.
18.  Perform Final System Test:
  • Conduct a comprehensive test to ensure all cameras, recording equipment, and network connections are working properly.
19.  Verify System Operation:
  • Confirm that the entire CCTV system operates as expected under different scenarios
